Welcome to 2nd Grade

Hello students and families, 

My name is Alison Yawn and I will be teaching second grade for the 2024-2025 school year! This is my second year teaching at Harvey Elementary School and I am so excited to be apart of the shark family!

 

I graduated from Warner University in 2021 with my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education K-6. Since graduating, I have taught two years in Kindergarten and two years in Second Grade.

I am so excited to meet my new second grade students and their families. It is going to be a year filled with tons of learning, laughs, and growth.

All About Me

I was born and raised here in Florida. I was born Winter Park, Florida, but then made the move over to Bradenton when I was 2 years old. I grew up with my mom, my dad, and my younger sister, Kaitlin. I love the Bradenton and Parrish Community. I have gone to elementary, middle and high school here in Manatee County and eventually wanted to come back and teach in the same community that I grew up in.

Aside from teaching, I am also an assistant varsity softball coach at Parrish Community High School. Last year, we brought home the VERY FIRST State Championship in school history, as well as making it to the state tournament for a second year in a row this season. I grew up playing softball from the age of 6 and continued my softball career throughout college.

My favorite things to do besides teach and coach is going to the beach, going shopping, and spending time with my friends and family.

  • Sport- Softball, hockey and football

  • Sport team- Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Gators

  • Store- Target, Tj Maxx, Amazon, Kirklands

  • Flower- Sunflowers and Orchids

  • Food- Italian, Mexican, and Asian Cuisine

  • Restaurants- Chipotle and Cheesecake Factory

  • Holiday- Christmas
